Making one close friend - each ones leaves feeling a new bond of friendship.

Primary camp provides a relaxed experience in the camp setting that alternates active/inactive, encourages creativity, includes quiet time and rest time, and offer worship experiences on their level.

Kelley Porter, Director

Rev. Kelley Porter is a lifelong member of Lee’s Summit Christian Church. Growing up in the church she was active in children’s and youth activities. Each summer she attended camp at Tall Oaks. Kelley joined the ministry team in 2015. She specializes in multi-generational ministry with a focus on children and families. 

 

She is trained in Conscious Discipline and early childhood development. In 2017, she became a commissioned minister. Kelley is a trained Worship and Wonder storyteller and currently leads this teaching at both Lee’s Summit Christian Church and Stepping Stones Preschool. She became a Worship and Wonder trainer in 2018 and helps bring the stories and practices into other churches. Kelley finds it rewarding to travel along with each child and family in their faith journey. 

Primary Camp is lead by a director and counselors.

It is an over night camp that includes activities like fishing at pond, ground games, pool - time, s'mores, chapel activities, haystack ride, worship with kids participation, and small groups.

Primary Camp focuses on friendships and involved worship experiences.

What to pack:

  • Your Bible

  • Bedding –Pillow, Sleeping bag or twin bed sheets and a blanket

  • Towels for swimming, showering, and other situations that might get wet!

  • Clothes – At least 1 outfit per day plus an extra one. Campers will also receive a camp t-shirt.

    • At least one pair of pants or jeans is also highly recommended for walking in the woods.

  • Swimsuit. Please refrain from bringing string bikinis or extra short male swim trunks.

  • Toiletries – Toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo, soap, and a comb.

  • Shoes – At least one pair of close-toed shoes you wouldn’t mind getting a little dirty. Sandals or flip-flops are great for the pool or for around the cabin.

  • Any medication required to be taken during our time at camp.

  • Water Bottle
